Dr. Frank Accardi has been a practicing ophthalmologist in New York City since 1985. He completed residencies in both ophthalmology and internal medicine, as well as a postgraduate fellowship year in ophthalmology at SUNY Downstate Medical School. For several years he taught ophthalmology residents surgical techniques both in the eye surgery labs at New York University and then for many years in the operating room at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical center, where he was Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology.
For ten years he delivered a series of formal lectures in order to fulfill his responsibility for preparing resident ophthalmologists to take the certification exams of the American Board of Ophthalmology in the section on Clinical Optics and Refraction. This lecture material dealt with the information that was the very basis of the later enormous interest in the surgical correction of refractive errors, first in laser vision correction and then in cataract surgery, including multifocal and astigmatism correcting toric intra-ocular lens implants.
Dr. Accardi maintains a special clinical interest in the intersection of systemic and ocular disease and modern cataract surgery, along with the correction of near-sightedness, astigmatism, and other refractive errors. His practice is equipped with all the necessary equipment to diagnose cataracts, glaucoma, external eye conditions and the vast spectrum of eye diseases. His offices are easily reachable by public transportation.
As eye surgeons, we believe that it is an enormous responsibility and absolute privilege to have our patients’ health, trust, and best interests always at the forefront of every decision we make and everything we do.
Dr. Accardi has been married almost thirty years, has four grown children, and enjoys golf, skiing, cooking, travel, and a range of reading interests. Lately, he has been attempting to develop a green thumb in his family's garden in Connecticut.
Been married almost 35 years.
Thank you for considering our practice,
Frank E. Accardi, MD
